Elizabeth and Stephanie Season 3 Episode 4

Stories? Questions? Thoughts? TEXT us here!

In this episode, we learn about what happened when two freelancers: Ellen Trainer and Marjorie Goldberg, started a movement for change in the Philadelphia Musicians’ Union: Local 77. A true story of grassroots organizing in the musician community, Ellen’s and Marj’s experiences with poor working conditions and treatment by management inspired them to run for office. We talk with Ellen and Marj about how the COVID pandemic affected people’s attitude towards unions, their philosophy on negotiating with management, and how educating the public can make them a vital ally. We found our conversation with Ellen and Marj to be inspiring - one in the column for freelancers taking control of their own destiny to benefit the whole community!
